To actually plan my tattoos and I had this really REALLY FABULOUS idea today about my snail one. Here is my question for you!!! This will be accompanied by a snail, pick a saying:

Or you can make your own suggestion! I’m thinking something on my foot with a snail crawling and the words are gonna be written in snail slime (ITS CUTE, SHUSH YOU). Please help me out?

GUYS HALP ME

For my 21st bday (today! :D) my roommates got me a red crowntail.

He is lovely and he looks very vivacious and healthy, so of course I am happy to have him. But at the same time, I had already agreed to myself that I’m not going to get any more fish, especially with this water thing going on. I’ve lost a few babies since moving up here and I don’t wanna be a bad fish mama!!

But either way, Sparkletini is now my responsibility, so I’ll have to do the best I can! I’ll take pictures eventually, haha.

Dont get another fish to clean it or a snail, since that’s gonna worsen things. What is it though? Like, what color? Smells like anything? Slimy? Whispy, or thick? Is it like snot? Is it on the gravel? Does it smell like a fart (not even joking) What’s the lighting like? Algae? What size, and how large?

It could be from filtering it, too. Honestly, you dont need to filter. The filter is carbon, and so is the stuff inside your filter cartrage. As long as you have conditioner, it’s good.

How often do you do water changes? Siphon the bottom? What conditioner? Does it “add slime coat” or have aloe? 

Its white-ish, though I had removed the carbon filter in the sorority cos it was gunked up last week and when I checked inside the filter machine this week it was like, over run with the stuff, except it was yellowish??? Its slimy, mostly wispy, though in some areas (like in the filter) it had gotten kind of thick. Not quite like snot, but almost. No scent. Will grow off of anything as far as I can tell, plant, filter, gravel, side, as long as its something that hasn’t been shifted around a lot.

I’ve had filters in my 10gs since before the move, and have been using the same water conditioner and stress coat (both API) since before the move. This stuff didn’t show up till I came here, so I’m pretty sure that whatever is causing it is coming from the water. 

I do water changes every couple of weeks, and when I do I siphon at the bottom as well. The slime has only grown significantly in my ten gallons. My three gallon has gotten a tiny bit now and then but its cleaned out fine. When I use my 1 gallons, I change those once a week and haven’t run into the slime in them whatsoever. I don’t have heaters small enough for my 1 gallons though. 

I described it and showed a picture of it to some guys at a local pet store that I now go to for my betta stuff, and they’re only suggestion was “were the plants made for aquariums?” Which they are. I’ll see if I can get the pictures off my ipod and onto tumblr tomorrow.

My sorority tank has it the worst and it was filled ENTIRELY with filtered water (that took so fucking long, all I have is a single seven cup filter jug).

I’m cleaning the tanks right now… Man, Idk what this shit is!! And I’ve never seen it grow on the FISH, which is great, but its still clogging up their habitat and I can’t imagine its good for them and NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT IS.

Anyway, cupped everybody in fresh water instead of the water from their tanks…  Gonna re-arrange things with this fishy babies when I get home from groceries, gotta properly utilize my 10gs. Specially since I bought another heater for my second one (I know I think more heat helps this stuff grow, but that doesn’t stop my fish from being tropical).

Does anybody… Does anybody think I could buy a tank mate who could help by eating stuff? I’ve only got five girls in my sorority, so its not like the tank is super crowded.

Haha, so I moved a plant and the fake log in the tank around, because one of the catfish kept getting stuck behind it (probably Oddball). The still-un-named betta decided to swim inside it for the first time since I got him while I was moving it (maybe he thought he would be a fun ride) and is still in there peaking out one of the holes watching a catfish. Every time it moves out of sight he goes to a different hole to watch it.

My betta is officially a stalker.
